This picture may not look like much at all, but it's a VBike dream come true. We have been planning for some time to build up a dynamic bike demonstration fleet to get folks a firsthand, embodied experience of what it feels like to ride an e-cargobike. IT'S HAPPENING!
Yuba Bikes have been absolutely incredible in helping us to deliver on this dream with four of their amazing bikes - 2 BionX e-assist equipped Boda Boda mid tail cargobikes and 2 Mundo long tail cargobikes that we will be converting into e-cargobikes. Yuba has witnessed the emergence of VBike and our work with Go Vermont, as well as our effort to set the conditions for the first low-interest bike loans in Vermont.
These bikes will be used in Brattleboro and throughout Vermont to greatly extend the work of VBike and bring the experience to folks in the way we know works best. At the end of the day, nothing replaces putting people on these bikes at our workshops to help them understand what it means to be physically and sensorily engaged in our transportation. It's the game changer. The theory of the presentations hits them after they have tried the bike and have the embodied experience. It has a way of melting away "car brain." That happens every time!
In about a week or so we will be sending up one of the electric Boda Bodas up to Go Vermont in Montpelier to have them host rides and show it off to legislator, planners, and VTrans staff. Maybe we can even get Bernie on one if we can catch up with him! As we build up the bikes we'll be posting lots of pics of these beauties and telling you more about how these bikes will be going into action.
